One clean commercial license
Every Red Roster pack, character, environment, world or bundle, ships under one standard non-exclusive commercial license, written so a filmmaker can actually read it. This page is the plain-language version. The binding full text is at /license/full and ships as LICENSE.txt inside every pack.
What you're actually buying
Red Roster packs are AI-generated. AI output may not be protected by copyright, so no one may own it outright. That means we don't sell you ownership of the character. We give you the pack files and a permission to use them, broadly and commercially, plus our promise not to come after you for those uses. It also means the license can't promise the character is unique to you or stop others from making something similar. You clear your own use for your own project.
What you can do
- ✓ Use the character in commercial shorts, series, music videos and ads.
- ✓ Generate unlimited shots, scenes and frames from the pack.
- ✓ Edit, restyle, animate and extend the character for your project.
- ✓ Monetise the films and content you make with the character.
- ✓ Use the included prompt and model spec to reproduce the character in your own pipeline.
What you can't do
- ✕ Resell or redistribute the pack itself, in whole or in part.
- ✕ Claim exclusive ownership of the character. The license is non-exclusive.
- ✕ Resell the character as a stock asset, template or pack to others.
- ✕ Sublicense the pack to anyone but contractors on your own productions.
- ✕ Feed the raw files to third parties, public repositories or AI training datasets.
- ✕ Pass the files off as your own original asset pack.
The basics
The license is non-exclusive: the same character may be licensed to other buyers. It is perpetual and worldwide for the uses above, and non-transferable. Free packs carry the same commercial rights as paid ones. A purchase pins to the pack version you bought; re-published updates don't change what you already downloaded. A bundle grants each pack inside it to you individually under this same license.
Packs are provided as is. We don't warrant the character is original or free of third-party rights, and we don't indemnify you against claims from your use. Our liability for any pack is limited to what you paid for it. See the full terms for the exact wording.
Exclusive editions
Some packs are sold as an exclusive one-of-one edition: it sells a single time and is then permanently withdrawn. Here "exclusive" is a real commitment - the creator agrees not to re-list it, sell it as an open edition, or publish a substantially similar version of the character on Red Roster. So no one else can obtain this character through Red Roster.
Your license is still the standard non-exclusive commercial license: you can use, edit, animate and monetise the character, and the pack includes the prompt and model spec so you can reproduce it in your own pipeline. You don't gain ownership of the character or the right to license it to others - the exclusivity is a scarcity guarantee on Red Roster, not a transfer of the creator's rights.
Reproducibility is intentional. Packs include the prompt and model spec by design so you can regenerate and extend the character - that's a feature of the product, not a loophole. The no-resale terms above still apply to the pack and the character identity.
